A new chapter in Bangladesh’s blended textiles segment is unfolding as Zaber & Zubair Fabrics introduces Cotna, a synthetic-cotton hybrid developed to elevate comfort and durability in spring and summer apparel. The launch has generated strong industry attention at the ongoing 14th Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Week held at the company’s Gulshan marketing office.

Properties: Cotna has been engineered with a thoughtful blend of 73% Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) cotton and 27% polyester fibre, creating a balance between environmental responsibility and enhanced performance. The company says the fabric mimics the soft, breathable touch of cotton while maintaining the resilience and easy-care properties associated with synthetic materials.

Subashish Bose, Assistant General Manager of Product Development, Zaber & Zubair Fabrics, shared during the event that Cotna is designed to become a go-to choice for lightweight tops and bottoms during warmer seasons. He added that the fabric is expected to gain strong traction among US buyers who prioritise sustainable material options, while also appealing to global customers exploring next-generation woven solutions.

According to industry observers at the showcase, Cotna’s introduction aligns with the increasing demand for blended fabrics capable of delivering comfort, longevity, and reduced environmental impact. The inclusion of BCI cotton reinforces Zaber & Zubair’s commitment to socially responsible sourcing practices, while the polyester content enhances stability, recovery, and overall product lifespan.

The exhibition also features more than 200 new developments for the Spring/Summer 2025 season. These include around 100 articles using blended yarn, 35 based on synthetic fibres, and a wide selection made with cellulosic materials such as Tencel, Modal, and Viscose. According to the company, this year’s collection is heavily centered on materials with sustainable attributes—both in fibre selection and production processes.

Zaber & Zubair have additionally presented an upgraded cotton-nylon blend targeting the activewear category, responding to the fast-growing global demand for performance apparel. The development of these fabrics reflects the company’s ongoing investment in advanced fibre engineering and its strategic shift toward higher-value textile innovation.

Commenting on Cotna’s performance characteristics, Md Shofiqur Rahman, Executive Director (Sales & Marketing), Zaber & Zubair Fabrics, highlighted that the fabric features a natural wrinkle-free appearance and does not require ironing, and explained that Cotna achieves these easy-care capabilities through its fibre structure, without relying on chemical finishing—offering buyers a cleaner and more environmentally considerate option.

Another highlight of the exhibition is Zaber & Zubair’s upgraded version of Lycra-based fabrics, engineered to maintain elasticity and shape for a longer lifecycle. Unlike many conventional stretch fabrics that lose resilience over time, the enhanced variant is said to support usage for at least two seasons, providing improved value to garment manufacturers.

As the largest textile division of Noman Group of Industries, Zaber & Zubair anticipates strong visitor turnout throughout the expo, which continues until 23 January. With Cotna taking center stage, the event underscores the company’s ambition to cement Bangladesh’s position in the global market for sustainable and high-performance woven fabrics.
