Fashion world has always welcomed new trends and styles. They have records of being trend setters for a long time now. Fashion is just an expression for confidence and autonomy. There are different types of fashion. Out of the two, namely, fast fashion and slow fashion the most important factor is the customers of different genders. All these years we heard that men were always inclined to buy T-shirts, shirts, denim jackets, jeans and many more clothing. While women were also busy buying western tops, saris, kameez or other coats that covered their body. The time has finally changed as the rise of unisex clothes are increasingly in demand.

Can anybody distinguish unisex clothing from other clothing’s? Unisex clothing has a big margin compared to other clothing’s. According to Wikipedia, unisex clothing is best described to be suitable for both sexes in order to make both men and women look similar (The term unisex was first used in 1968 in Life, an American magazine). Unisex clothes are garments that are produced with no real idea for which gender designs are to be produced. Men are willing to dress like women and likewise women have their desire to style themselves with men’s clothing. This is the up to the minute and rising trend.

Unisex clothing was a hot topic many years back around the year 1950. Actors and actresses were so popular that their fans admired their fashion sense. Superstars like Marlon Brando and James dean were the poster boys for unisex fashion articles back in their time. For some people unisex clothing symbolizes to freedom to an extent. It meant freedom from gender classifications. Since, this fashion is breaking all the ancient myths and the thoughts of other castes regarding this issue is becoming more and more baseless as the hype is truly astonishing.

The designers are the real horse of this race. In 1960, space had such an impact in the fashion industry it had to change. Pierre Cardin (designer) changed the whole fashion system by producing futuristic apparels in that given situation of space time. He prepared single-breasted, round necked jackets, stretch jersey tunics and leggings for both genders. Rudi Gernreich was the most important designer as he was the first man to actually recognize unisex fashion for the majority. He began his career when there was agony due to politics and the instability caused by it. His ‘’unisex’’ project reduced all the divisions and barriers created between different genders. The aim of this project was to prepare a monokini. It was a topless bathing costume specifically made for men and women who had become bald as well as trimmed their body hair.

There are many brands who are anticipating unisex fashion and making garments like this. There are so many retailers and brands who have received their deserving appreciation from around the globe. Let us look more closely about what those brands has to offer in the following:

Unisex fashion is gaining more and more popularity. This particular fashion trend is setting an example and also changing the myth going around the world. In 1970, trousers were officially accredited as a female attire. However, Chanel made trousers for men in 1920 to express their masculinity.
