Leading Leather Alternatives

We already came to know what leather is and how it works in our previous article. Now it’s a chance to discover what the other choice is. Vegan leather is made without hurting or killing any animals, but it is still not good for the environment. Most people use PVC instead of leather, which is bad for the environment because it doesn’t break down. There are other kinds of vegan leather that don’t use plastic, like tea leather, cork leather, pineapple leather, soy leather, and so on. These choices are better for the environment than the others. Several companies have stopped using animals by doing these things.

The alternatives are discussed below:

Tea leather: It is possible and is already being done. It was found that a cellulosic substance in green tea acts like leather. It couldn’t be made with just this material, so the cellulose is layered with other eco-friendly fabrics to give it the strength it needs.

Cork leather: It is made from the bark of cork oaks. This doesn’t hurt the tree in any way. In fact, removing pieces of these barks helps the tree to grow new bark, which makes the tree live longer. The cork is flexible enough to keep its shape, and it doesn’t attract dust either. This faux leather is used to make wallets, purses, and other things.

Pineapple leather: This leather, which is often called “Pinatex,” is made when pineapples are picked. Pineapple leaves are stripped of their long fibres, then dried and cleaned. First, a nonwoven mesh is made, which is then finished in the right way to make it suitable for use in fashion, furniture, and accessories. Hugo Boss, H&M, and other well-known brands already use Pinatex in their clothes.
