Haim Proves That Sister Dressing Is Cool

Let’s be honest: sister dressing isn’t for everyone. It can take us back to the days of stiff family photos and special occasionwear. But the sisters of the band Haim—Este, Danielle, and Alana—have mastered the art of coordination to the point that it could sway even the biggest naysayers.

It should come as no surprise that a family band like Haim would have the coordinated dressing down pat, but over the last 10-plus years, the trio have made a very solid case for matching clothing when you already have matching genetics. While downright matching has its time and place (as they demonstrated in Louis Vuitton minidresses at the Barbie premiere or suits and ties at the 2022 Glamour Women Of The Year Awards), the sisters have their style down to a science.

In order to maintain cohesion, the Haim sisters tend to center their looks around one unifying texture, color palette, or silhouette. Like with their music, they share the spotlight with ease, blending into the collective. But that doesn’t mean their individuality disappears: that each outfit succeeds alone and in the group is the true marker of success. Take the periwinkle Prada numbers they trotted out for the 2021 Grammys, each of them in mod shift dresses, Este wearing hers with a hole-riddled turtleneck; Danielle with trousers; Alana with trousers and an overcoat.

Nicolas Ghesquière seems to understand the trio’s sister dressing brief. The musicians, regulars at Louis Vuitton shows, often turn to the designer to dress them from everything from their tour (where they wore matching black bralettes and leather LV pants—heavy on the hardware) to the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party, where they align on one theme. (In 2025, they all donned dresses in ruched, copper-toned satin; in 2024 it was black and rhinestones that served as a jumping-off point.)

Whether they’re leaning into the matchy-matchy or offering their own interpretations on a loose theme, Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim will make you want to match with your sister—or wish you had one. Here, see some of their finest sister style moments.
