The ensembles that Her Majesty The Queen wore for her two public appearances on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the Platinum Jubilee weekend in June will be presented to the general public for the first time ever at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The two ensembles, along with others that Her Majesty wore to commemorate the Silver, Golden, and Diamond Jubilees, are on display at the royal palace in Edinburgh until September 25 as part of a special exhibition honoring The Queen’s historic Platinum Jubilee.
The Queen was seen wearing a pale blue dress with a matching coat and hat during the celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee in June. She stood on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to take the salute and watch the flypast during the Trooping the Color ceremony. Both the dress and the coat featured a delicate beaded and diamanté trim. Angela Kelly, who serves as a personal adviser to The Queen in the area of wardrobe, was the one who came up with the ensemble’s design. Her Majesty wore it when she posed for the official Platinum Jubilee photograph, which was taken by Ranald Mackechnie the week before. The official portrait of the Queen, which depicts her standing in front of Windsor Castle, will also be displayed as part of the exhibition.
Following the Platinum Jubilee Pageant, the second ensemble that the Queen wore on the balcony was a vivid green wool-crêpe dress and coat designed by Stewart Parvin, along with a coordinating wool-crêpe hat made by milliner Rachel Trevor-Morgan. This outfit was worn after the Platinum Jubilee Pageant.
