Buying house sector pledges transformation through better service & communication

In a united front, the new leadership of the Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) have pledged to improve the trading sector. Their focus will be on strengthening communication and enhancing the level of service offered to members.

BGBA new President, Md. Mofazzal Hossain Pavel, Managing Director, Dongyi Sourcing Ltd. said, “To all our members and voters, a heartfelt thank you for your trust! I, along with my fellow elected EC members, stand firmly committed to driving positive change within our organization. Our focus is on continuous improvement and ensuring the best possible representation for all members.”

“For the next 2 years, as President, I will give my best for the betterment of the sector. As a testament to my commitment, I have set a plan of action in 4 stages.”

“As for the last one month’s achievements, we have established a Standing Committee to support BGBA’s development progress. Introduced smart cards for members – through which members can avail many facilities.”

In terms of the short-term plan BGBA’s President said, “Next 3 months, we will relocate BGBA’s office to a new place with larger space. Implementation of an easy and friendly membership registration and renewal process with a digital payment system. Upgrade website with modern features.”

Mofazzal Hossain Pavel added, “As for the long-term plan within the next 2 years, we will ensure an easy, faster registration and renewal process with the Textile Department (DoT). In addition, highlighting Advance Income Tax (AIT) – as the garment factories provide much less AIT. So, we will request urgent policy support from the govt. and propose a uniform tax rate on export earnings – which will boost orders and grow our economy. Also, we will demand the Ministry of Commerce to give top exporters the CIP recognition for our sector. Organize trade fairs to oversee countries. Airport protocol and greeting services. And develop iOS and Android version Apps for BGBA.”

Emphasizing upskilling people, Dongyi Sourcing’s Managing Director said, “With the expansion of the buying house sector, we will organize workshops and training from BGBA to continuously groom entrepreneurs and management people.”

“I assure you that we will highly prioritize on increasing collaboration with BGMEA, and other associations to elevate our status more and ease our apparel export target of $100 billion.”

Special Guest of the event, Abdullah Hil Rakib, Vice President, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Managing Director at TEAM Group said, “For the apparel trading and the sector in general, communication is the key to success. By 2030, Bangladesh’s readymade garments (RMG) and allied sectors have aspired to earn $100 billion through exports. For this, the buying house sector plays a pivotal role in bringing orders to shipment. and in terms of increasing markets and orders – language communication is paramount.”

“As I belong to this community, I can assure you that excelling in communication skills is the need of the hour.”

As part of the transformation, the BGMEA Vice President added, “We must come out of tech peck based orders. Instead, for product diversification, building design and development capacity is paramount. Only working with pricing won’t give us the advantage.”

“At the same time, Fiber diversification is crucial too. Side by side, we must explore value-added apparel like technical textiles, higher SMV products are crucial to increase our business growth potential.”

“From BGMEA, I will ensure all types of necessary support in all situations. As I started my career with garment trading business – Team Sourcing Co. Ltd. Still today, I proudly say that TEAM Group’s backbone is our buying house.”

He emphasized that, “We believe that BGMEA and BGBA collaboration is the future. We will do everything possible to strengthen our ties to further excel in the RMG industry.”

Md. Morshed Alam, Vice President, BGBA said, “The get-together event is a great lift-off for the BGBA’s new leadership. This event will showcase our determination to the wider community. Besides the exclusive fashion show event is a testament to our commitment to high-end apparel grab.”

Mohammed Zakir Hossain, Secretary General, BGBA said, “We want to convey to our members that the new leadership has a wide array of steps to elevate the buying sector. especially in products and market diversification arena to boost our $100 billion export target.”

Mohammed Kamal Uddin, Managing Director, Torque Fashions Ltd. said, “we must find out ways to increase exports through value addition. Working in unification is key. Buying Houses is our helping hand to reach the export target. Working together with BGMEA and BGBA is key. For value addition, BGBA’s Sourcing is the most valuable thing.”

More than 500 members, and allied sector entrepreneurs were present at the event. The event was also graced by a fashion show.
