Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Bangladesh Brand Forum (BBF) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at repositioning Bangladesh’s ready made garment industry as a modern, sustainable and innovation driven sector in the global market.

The MoU was signed by Mijanur Rahman on behalf of BGMEA and Shariful Islam on behalf of BBF.
Among others present at the signing ceremony were Shah Raed Chowdhury, Director of BGMEA; Khan Monirul Alam, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Branding; Masud Kabir, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Promotion and Publication; M Sajedul Karim, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Trade Fair and Events; and Sajid Mahbub.
Under the agreement, the two organizations will work together to develop global promotion and branding strategies to transform Bangladesh’s garment industry from a “factory nation” to an “innovation nation”.

Key initiatives under the partnership include establishing a dedicated innovation lab at BGMEA, launching a leadership academy to enhance the skills of mid and senior level industry professionals and promote women leadership, and organizing youth-focused programmes such as youth festivals, campus ambassador initiatives, and national competitions to encourage talented students and young innovators to build careers in the garment sector.
The collaboration will also highlight the achievements of Bangladesh’s environmentally friendly factories and produce knowledge reports and case studies to support the industry’s progress toward sustainable development goals.

In addition, BGMEA members will gain access to modern branding, retail and digital marketing insights through joint initiatives under the partnership.
