The breathtaking floor-t0-ceiling floral arrangements that dotted the restaurant COQODAQ for Andrew Kwon’s spring 2025 fashion show hinted of inspiration for the collection that would come down the runway. Unfazed by the now oft mocked phrase ‘florals for spring? Groundbreaking?’, Kwon delivered an assured collection that did not shy away from flowers.

This was the 9th collection of Kwon and in the seasons that I have been watching him produce his brand of ultra-feminine and glamorous dressing, Collection 9 shows a softer and more delicate touch for Kwon. Whereas in seasons past there may have been a couple of looks that have been ladened with one too many ideas or executed with a slightly heavy hand, this time around it was all about lightness and confidence.

The title of the collection is Ephemeral owing to the very transient nature of flowers. But the dresses that he sent down the runway were anything but ephemeral. They were the kind of clothes that would have glamorous lives beyond the runway and the red carpet.

Confections in layered tulle, silk and georgette in soft petal colors would make any woman swoon. There was a gown made from metallic lace and embellished with hand painted flowers. Embroidered botanicals reminiscent of vintage French etchings adorned an ivory dress with a skirt crafted from yards and yards of tulle. A column silk dress in the palest of yellows featured a softly draped bodice that recalled the shape of calla lilies. A knockout figure-hugging gown with a halter neck was finished off with a lace mermaid hem in ombre shades.

Spring is the season of flowers and romance and Andrew Kwon’s clothes delivers both.
