Bangladesh factories use lasers to make greener denim
Introduction:
Now a days the use of Laser technology is very important and updated technology in laundry industries. It is a part of the sustainable wash. This is water-free, chemical-free technology that gives much wanted ‘’distressed’’ or ‘’vintage’’ look to the denim. It is faster than a conventional process. It saves energy, water, and chemicals. It is also environment free.
How it works:
Laser technology acts as a thermal source that eliminates the indigo dye of denim fabrics by evaporating indigo from solid to gaseous form through heat. Here using Carbon-di-oxide (CO2) and DC current with required intensity instead of Potassium Permanganate (PP) spray.
There are three parts to the Laser machine: The computer part, the Siler Part and the Laser Part. Work bed may be honeycombing structure or metal salts or metal rods. Fabric has to be minimum of 98% cotton. Polyester fabric is very difficult to use with Laser. Indigo fabric is very good for Laser.
Laser working sequences:
Design pattern has to be created by computer and development the pattern from capture |
Photo by using graphics editing software for the Laser engraving. |
Conversion of the pattern into grey scale; .bmp format (Bitmap image format |
Inputting the design file into Laser system |
Setting the parameters for pixel time and resolution |
Placing the garments on the honeycomb cutting table, location identification of the Laser engraving area and conducting Laser engraving on the garments. |
Laser burns the surface of the fabric. |
The fume extraction takes place from below the workpiece and spaces or hoes enable the gases to circulate and for processing debris to be sucked away from the work area. |
Advantages of Laser technology in the Denim Industry:
Any design any place can be created e.g.: Whisker, Hand Sand, Destroy, Grinding, All over print,
3D effect, Acid wash effect, Stitch effect, fray out effect, Patch effect etc.
Faster process compared to the conventional process.
Save denim fabric from damages caused by traditional tools, chemicals, stones, bleaches etc.
Environment friendly.
Zero water waste.
Less manpower is required.
Drawback of Laser Treatment:
Primary investment is very high, which is a problem for small or medium-sized industries.
Skillful operators are needed.
Maintenance and servicing of the Laser system may be troublesome in some circumstances.
Laser facilities in Ha-Meem Group: Ha-Meem is one of the largest companies in South Asia, who used a large number of Laser machines in Laundry. Mr.Sajid Azad Director of Ha-Meem Group said, at present Ha-Meem Group has 88 Laser machines. Basically, we are using three special brands of Laser: Jeanologia, Macsa id and SEI Laser. We have experienced.
Laser designers (local and abroad). All kinds of designs we can make as per Buyer requirements. Our Laser capacity is about 100,000 pieces per day. We always try to update our technology to satisfy our Buyers, he added.
Looking ahead, Ha-Meem Group aims to reach new heights as a top textile and garment manufacturer in Bangladesh. With aspirations to export $1 billion worth of apparel items by 2025, they are actively exploring avenues for producing apparel through recycling yarn and fabric. This eco-friendly approach aligns with their commitment to environmental sustainability.
