After a successful launch in the US the previous year, the social media platform Pinterest has now brought its Creator Fund to the United Kingdom in an effort to promote under-represented content makers. The goal of the Creator Fund is to make it easier for creators from groups that have been historically marginalised to gain access to resources and opportunities. These groups include persons who identify as Black, LGBTQIA+, Asian, or Indigenous, as well as those with disabilities. The program is a continuous effort by Pinterest to make the platform a welcoming and motivating environment for people from all walks of life, and the initial round of applications in the United Kingdom will concentrate on LGBTQIA+ fashion and beauty-related content creators.

Candidates who are selected will be given the opportunity to participate in an exclusive, five-week educational and networking program designed to position them for continued success in the future. They will be given access to the creator community and educated on the various prospects for the creation of content as well as for its monetization. In addition to this, they will be awarded a financial grant of 20,000 pounds in addition to receiving equipment and other resources to assist them in reaching new audiences. A statement released by Pinterest’s strategic partner manager, Hannah Ngakane, read as follows: “At Pinterest, we’re committed to elevating creators from under-represented communities, and establishing a positive and inspiring space for their material to be discovered and recognized.” Through our Creator Fund, we are able to aid talent financially and educationally as well as create a clear path for creators to access the tools and resources they need to be successful.”
